Designed for students ages 12 through adult. All musicians should be comfortable on their instruments and have at least 3 years of experience. Open to all instrumentalists.
Your Instructor
Nikhil Yerawadekar
Nikhil Yerawadekaris a multi-instrumentalist from Queens, NY who has been teaching music since 2007. He graduated from NYU with a BS in Music Education with a focus on classical guitar, and since then has worked extensively as a guitarist, bassist, bandleader, keyboard player and producer, while teaching in a variety of classroom and one-on-one settings. He has performed all over the world, specializing in grooves and musicalstyles from the African diaspora including Afrobeat, reggae and cumbia, as well as funk and R&B styles. Over the years he has performed with(among others)AngéliqueKidjo, Medeski, Martin & Wood, Judy Collins, Esperanza Spalding and the great drummer Tony Allen, who is responsible for creating the Afrobeat drum style. Nikhil takes a holistic approach to teaching, aiming to empower students towards their goals, while giving them broader musical context and broadening their creative horizons.
