The hvJAZZ/SUNY Ulster Jazz Ensemble is a rehearsal band that gives educational and performance opportunities to musicians in our region. Every semester the ensemble performs great repertoire from the masters of the genre and gives multiple performance in a variety of settings.

The hvJAZZ?SUNY Ulster Jazz Ensemble is designed for:

​

  • SUNY Ulster students may participate as a credit bearing course. 

  • Students grades (8-12) looking for a quality music education and performance experience in the jazz idiom

  • Community members looking to keep up their chops and play some great music with some great people.

Performance - The Falcon

The hvJAZZ/SUNY Ulster Jazz Ensemble will join the Hudson Valley Youth Jazz Orchestra, hvJAZZ Lab and Highland High School Jazz Ensemble for a great afternoon of jazz.

Performance - Napoli/Shaut Sextet

hvJAZZ/SUNY Ulster Jazz Ensemble opens for "Jazz for Christmas Time" concert at St. James Methodist Church.

The Napoli/Shaut sextet features some of the regions top jazz musicians including; Tristen Napoli, Matt Finck, Jeff "Siege" Siegel and Rich Syracuse.

Performance - Swingin' Moments

hvJAZZ/SUNY Ulster Jazz Ensemble opens for "Swingin' Moments Cabaret: A Benefit for the Alzheimer's Association" @ BSP in Kingston, NY. 

​

This performance has helped raise over $80,000 for the Alzheimer's Association of the Hudson Valley.

The Ensemble is a performance based big band that performs quality literature from Count Basie and Duke Ellington to Thad Jones and Bob Mintzer. The group performas multiple times per year at SUNY Ulster (our home) and other venues throughout the region.
