Welcome to our Online Solo Festival information page. Although our registration is officially closed, we still have a few openings. We will leave the registration open until we run out of space.

What
Students will have an opportunity to participate in an online Solo Festival designed to encourage musical growth during this time of canceled NYSSMA festivals and self-isolation.
How
Students will record and submit a video performance of any piece of music. Students may also select an optional live component that would include sight reading and scales via Zoom.
Grading
All students will receive a score sheet with feedback focusing on continued musical growth. (If students prefer, they may forgo a numerical grade and receive comments only.) All adjudication will be done by certified music educators.
Awards & Scholarship
Outstanding soloists will be awarded and recognized as such in a variety of brackets including age/grade level and instrument. Students must do both the video and live components to be considered for awards.

Select soloists will be invited to perform for our virtual honors recital.

We will also award two scholarships for outstanding musicianship. (1 for $500 and 1 for $250)
Music
Students may choose any piece of music. The total video must be less than eight minutes long. Please note that the difficulty of the music, scales and sight reading will be considered for the awards.
Pricing
$30 per solo. ($20 if you would prefer to omit the live component)

Who are We?
Bridge Arts and Education, Inc is a new registered not-for-profit focusing on providing musical opportunities to students. Bridge Arts was founded by Dan Shaut, a music educator in the Hudsdon Valley of NY who currently the Director of Bands at Highland High School. He spent 13 years teaching in the Kingston City Schools. He is currently an adjunct professor at SUNY Ulster (saxophone and jazz ensemble) and was an adjunct (saxophone) at the College of St. Rose in Albany, NY for 12 years.
Dan created the Online Solo Festival to keep his students motivated and progressing during the Covid 19 quarantine and has now opened the festival up to other students.
